Miss Abigail Brierley

Trumpet/Cornet/Flugelhorn/Brass/Theory
Any genre
Beginners to Advanced

Notes:
I am both a trumpet player and a cornet player with extensive experience in both instruments. I have just completed my music degree at Newcastle University and graduated with a first classification. I play in a range of different ensemble settings resulting in a substantial performing and playing experience in different genres. This means I am fairly flexible and can adapt to students needs in this respect.

I have had experience teaching all ranges of capabilities over a number of years. Currently, I teach both privately as well as at the Northern Music Centre where I am head of brass tuition.

Notes:
I began playing with my local church, The Peoples Mission Silver Band, when I was about 7 years old.  I soon after joined the South Tyneside Brass Band Scheme where I played in all the bands and spent three years playing Principal cornet for the Premier Band winning the Rotary Soloist award on two occasions.
Since leaving the Brass Band centre I have played Principal cornet with various local brass bands, I have performed in pit orchestras for musicals including, Barnum, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Westside Story amongst others.  I have also played lead trumpet for The New Century Rag Time Orchestra and the Geordie Latinos.  Being a musician has allowed me to perform in places such as The Royal Albert Hall, The Sage Gateshead and The Barbican Centre in London. I have also recorded a performance for radio at the BBC studios in Manchester.
